Sustainability Consultant and DEI-specialist at DNV

Ulkar is a dedicated Sustainability Consultant at DNV Nordics, where she works with international companies on human rights due diligence, supply chain sustainability initiatives, and oversees supply chain audits across the globe. Her expertise extends to DEI and assurance projects, which demand a deep understanding of social sustainability and governance. Ulkar is qualified in ISO 9001:2015 and SMETA audits.

With a strong background in human rights policies, due diligence, and diversity and inclusion, Ulkar has actively contributed to projects promoting inclusive and diverse societies. Before DNV, she worked at the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, The Peace Education Institute, and the European Parliament under MEP Heidi Hautala.

Ulkar’s commitment to volunteer and leadership roles is commendable. She has served as the Chair of Fem-R and as the Vice-Chair of the Finnish League for Human Rights. She continues to be a board member of the Finnish League for Human Rights and Demla ry, the Legal Policy Association. Furthermore, she has organized and facilitated numerous events focused on human rights, diversity, and inclusion, earning recognition as a prominent public speaker and trainer in these domains.

Ulkar holds an MA degree in Social Exclusion from Åbo Akademi University and is pursuing her PhD at the University of Helsinki with the MadEnCounters research group, focusing on ‘Visibilizing Counter-Stories of Mental Health’.
