DEI-consultant, lecturer, and workshop leader | Founder of Patrick Konde AB

Patrick Konde is a DEI-consultant, lecturer, and workshop leader with years of experience providing trainings for a wide variety of actors in both the public and private sectors. Among these, he recently worked with Svea Court of Appeal (Svea hovrätt) for two years and gained a deeper understanding of some of the major challenges that the legal system in Sweden faces when it comes to DEI. Patrick is particularly interested in how power and hierarchies are expressed in workplaces and how unconscious biases affect work processes.

Patrick also has extensive experience in working with children and youth issues. He has written both a bachelor’s and master’s thesis on the topic of school culture, but also through many years of work with children’s rights issues within civil society. He is also the co-author of the book Antiracist handbook from 2021.

Patrick has an academic background in anthropology and gender studies and was after he finished his master’s degree invited back to Uppsala University as part of the teaching squad for the course Engaged Anthropology. Patrick’s contribution to the course was about social movements and activism and how studying the things that marginalized groups stand up against can sometimes tell us more about a culture than what studying the majority group’s perspectives could tell us.

As an educator, he is particularly appreciated for his ability to make it easy for participants to talk about things that they initially found difficult to speak about. It can be about jargon, racism, homophobia or other forms of abuse that sometimes stand in the way of an inclusive work environment.
