Naaja H. Nathanielsen (born 1975) is Minister of Business, Trade, Mineral Resources, Justice and Gender Equality in Greenland. She was first elected to Inatsisartut (the Greenlandic parliament) in 2009 for Inuit Ataqatigiit. The following 7 years she served on a number of committees, especially the Finance and Fiscal affairs committee and the committee for Trade, Commerce, Mineral and Oil Ressources.
In 2016 she left the parliament and became director of the Greenlandic prison and probation service. She was reelected in April 2021 and became Minister for Housing, Infrastructure, Gender equality and Natural resources. In November 2021 she was appointed to the Ministry of Finance and Gender Equality. In a cabinet reshuffle in September 2023, she was appointed her current position. Nathanielsen holds a master’s degree in psychology from the University of Copenhagen.
As member of parliament, she successfully proposed a bill to implement gender quotas on public boards and committees, proposed a gender equality law and proposed to establish a center for therapeutic help to violent partners. As minister she is currently updating the gender equality law, the minerals laws and regulations and the framework on business support and promotion.
