Julie Forchhammer is the co-founder of Klimakultur, a Norwegian non-profit founded in 2021 in the mountains in Vang in Valdres. Klimakultur mobilizes the culture sector on how to take action on climate change and implement climate justice.

Working in Norway where the fossil fuel industry is present in every aspect of society, Julie is passionate about using the art and culture sector to create spaces for reflections on topics that are often not that easily discussed here. As she says: “The fossil fuel industry are masters of PR, with unlimited resources to influence the public debate and delay climate action. Artists and culture workers may not always be well financed but we also have one unlimited and renewable resource: The power to be brave and tell the truth.”

Forchhammer is part of the Julie´s Bicycle led Creative Climate Leadership alumni, an international training and transformation programme to empower artists and cultural professionals to take action on the climate and ecological crisis with impact, creativity, and resilience. Julie’s prior work includes a.o. festival manager Vinjerock, environmental manager at Øyafestivalen in Oslo and advisor and board member for The Rainforest Foundation Norway.
