André Biveti is a legal advisor and consultant who worked until April 2024, for the Portuguese government in the cabinet of the Secretary of State for Maritime Affairs and previously in the cabinet of the Secretary of State of Fisheries. Prior to his work for the government, André focused on privacy issues and data protection in the private sector. He has also been involved in local politics since 2017, when he was elected to the local council in the district where he grew up in Lisbon. He has already served as treasurer of the executive body of that local council and is currently President of the Local Assembly. He has been involved in civil society as a member of Afrolis, an association which aims at providing different narratives and perspectives about racialized people and marginalized groups, so that they can see themselves represented in the media and have their stories told. In a prior life, he was a track-field athlete. A Portuguese and Angolan national, André holds a bachelor’s degree in law from the University of Lisbon.
